WhO WE ARE

The Rogotzke family all hail from the southwest Minnesota area. Every summer we head up to the pristine waters of Bristol Bay, Alaska to commercially fish for salmon. Roger, the captain of the F/V Karen Anne, has been fishing in Bristol Bay since 1982.

Roger’s first season up in Bristol Bay was actually spent in a boat yard working at a marina. The next summer he was a crewman on a friend’s boat. The next season he took the plunge and decided to start his own fishing operation. He purchased his first boat, the F/V Ratso, with help from his father, Bob.

Roger has been returning to Bristol Bay every year since. Tom, Roger’s eldest son, began fishing with his dad in 2000 (at just 12 years old) and fished 9 seasons with him. Tom has since purchased his own boat, the F/V Katie Blu, and continues to fish every season as well.

In 2009, Roger’s younger son, Jay, joined the family in Bristol Bay. Jay ran Roger’s old boat for a couple of years prior to purchasing his own boat, the F/V Rip Runner.

Roger’s brother, Dave, captain of the F/V Kanista, has also been fishing in Bristol Bay since the beginning and also operates his own fishing company. The Rogotzke boats all work together to find fish and keep each other going during the long fishing season.

Family is the heart of our business and we hope to one day pass this tradition on to the youngest generation of Rogotzke’s.
